A small bird of prey (sparrowhawk?) — outstretched v-shaped wings, cutting through a mottled grey sky. The bird had recently taken flight from the top of a lamppost as I walked underneath.

A real intimation of seasonal change when the blossom bursts from this cherry plum tree in the grounds of Dunfermline Abbey. Against a vibrant blue sky and heat holding sun, budding branches thread an archipelago of white clouds.

Tree branch with a patch of lighter yellow lichen above a sprouting, small green, lung-like efflorescence. A more developed darker yellow lichen is growing in distinct small circular forms below with a smaller patch of as yet uncoloured apothecia on the left hand side. A suggestion of green vegetation is in the background.
An intensity of vibrant colour and forms in such a small area.
