***

Detail of a recently painted yellow refuse skip. A roughly sealed metal seam runs diagonal on the right hand side with traces of rust where paint has not been applied. To the left of the seam are a number of paint blisters — forming an imaginary star constellation upon a yellow sky.

The wooden remains of Hawcraig Pier extending into the Firth of Forth. Originally built in the 1850s to allow passenger vessels from Leith to disembark at Aberdour. Across the Forth, Arthur's Seat, Salisbury Crags and the Edinburgh skyline can be seen in the distance. A huddle of angular rocks with patches of yellow lichen are in the foreground. The day is calm with sea and sky a continuum of blues and greys. (11th February, 2024).
