Looking down on the top of an old wooden mooring post at the side of Charlestown Harbour, Fife. The wood has weathered and appears to have split into segments forming (relatively) deep gullies and surface crevices. Outcrops of yellow lichen are visible in several places and small growths of greenery have been established. A tiny purplish and blue shell, with its interior whorl structure visible, sits on top of the post. The shell was possibly tide-thrown or placed by an unknown person or bird.
